Coaching Tip – Prepare Athletes For Continued Involvement

The sport of track and field can be enjoyed by participants of all ages. It is important to remember that in order for the sport to be successful, we as coaches must provide positive experiences that encourage athletes to stay involved with the sport beyond their interscholastic participation.

Coaching Tip – Build Relationships

Coaching is not always about knowledge of the event. It is important to build a good relationship between the coach and athlete and find the right course of action for each individual.

Coaching Tip – Have a Plan

There should be a plan for the season, month, week, session, etc. However, just because a plan is written down, does not mean it is written in stone. There should always be room in the plan to make adjustments on the fly based on what is seen in athlete performance or enthusiasm.
